They say time speeds up the older you get. They’re not wrong. It also seems to become a blur when you have kids. One moment you are holding your baby small and delicate in your arms, then next thing you know she’s turned six, only with the attitude of a 12 year old.
Yup – that time of year where my pink princess gets to add another year to her age. This year she got a party at an indoor play park much to her absolute pleasure. With a record return of 99% of invitees coming it ended up being a great day.
Bethany requested a unicorn cake this year. After scratching my head long and hard Bethany chose a Nici (German soft toy brand) unicorn and I attempted to come up with a cake version.
The cake is a chocolate cake with a “fresh” whipped cream filling. All the icing is buttercream with the exception of the flowers. I made those in royal icing a week before the party. The unicorn alone took about 3 hours to create. It was worth it though to see the magic smile on Bethany’s face. She loved it and that’s all that matters.
We seem to have started an annual tradition of a breakfast at Disneyland around birthday time as well, so the day after the party we headed out to Disneyland Hong Kong to spend a bit of family time.
Bethany decided to monkey around in Tarzan’s Treehouse. I have no idea where she gets it from.
On second thought… maybe I do now…
Hong Kong Disneyland is celebrating Halloween again… and this cool pirate skull was sitting in Adventureland:
No other pirates around though. I can’t help but wonder if ‘Pirates’ might be one of the “new” rides they are building on the other side of Adventureland… guess we’ll have to wait till 2012 to find out.
