The Old and the New

The bike and the car, so different they be

The rich and the poor, juxtaposed on the street

Shiny and modern, the car screams of money

Drab, worn and black, the bike just looks funny

The car is a trinket, an object, success

The bike is a worker, a tool, nothing less

And yet, side by side and together they do

Exemplify Hong Kong, the Old and the New

Note: I don’t normally write poems but when I saw and photographed this scene I couldn’t help myself.

  1. Great composition. There are so many opposites in life – the rich and the poor, the tall and the short, the educated and the not so fortunate. At a broader level, this post celebrates this dichotomy.
