and on the sea.
I truly am blessed living right on the edge of the vibrant, often fragrant (in a not so pleasant way) and ever changing Victoria Harbour. My lounge window view is an ever changing kaleidoscope of imagery despite having a freeway in front of it.
This morning a chance glance out the window revealed a pair of white herons sitting on one of the pylons below the freeway.
These guys are actually called Intermediate Egrets. The smaller one with the black beak is a female. If you look closely she has a couple of long plumes that taper from the back of her head down her back. Whilst not endangered, they aren’t that common on a busy commercial harbours edge, particularly a mating couple, so I feel extremely fortunate to have captured these two.
It is also a timely reminder that it doesn’t matter your species, the female always seems to be waiting around while the male has his fill. 😉
A lovely reminder of the simplicity of Valentines Day without the commercialism.
Happy Valentines Day everyone!
