Gromit, Gromit Everywhere…

Shopping malls here always have an element of unknown to them. Not for the shops within but for the random displays they may be hosting from time to time.

Elements in Kowloon underneath ICC had a colourful number of the character Gromit spread throughout their mall as part of a “Gromit Unleashed” exhibition. Gromit is a stop-motion (or clay-mation) dog who rose to fame with his adventures in “Wallace and Gromit” during the 1990’s.

Why was this display so colourful you ask?

Well, let me show you dear reader…

Spread around the mall every Gromit we came across was decorated differently. Here is Gromitzilla…

And here is a chocolate coated Gromit. He looks good enough to eat!

How about a Chinese dragon Gromit?

Or Bruce Lee/Kill Bill Gromit? I have to say I like the Bone Nun-chucks!

I’m sure you get the idea. Needless to say there were a LOT of these guys.

In what I’m going to assume was the hub of the Gromit exhibition a multi storied Merry-Go-Round housed layer upon layer of Gromits.

Mitchell took some time out from the Gromits to read the paper… with Gromit.

There were also a few cute smaller sized Gromits. Nom Nom!

And then there was this one which caused a world of amusement for my two sprogs as they laughed and pointed.

And poked their finger in the hole just for a laugh… As you do if you’re an Aussie or Kiwi kid…

I’d lay bets that particular Gromit is probably the most photographed of those on display. Certainly he is the most talked about amongst my circle of friends who have happened across this display!

My kids had no idea who Gromit was in terms of the character or show, but they spent a good 10 minutes enjoying the Gromits’ on display and picking out their favourites.

Which one is your favourite of the ones shown here?

I’m a sucker for chocolate and ice cream myself…

Gromit Unleashed was on display until the 31st of August 2014 at Elements Shopping Mall above Kowloon station in Tsum Sha Tsui.
