Hong Kong Disneyland – Paint the Night Parade – re-visited

The new night parade at Disney has been going for a few weeks now so we thought it was high time to head back out and see how it is fairing.

Despite a downturn in crowds as mainland visitors stay away (which co-incidentally makes the park a joy to visit with short queue times), the parade was VERY popular with people jostling for prime viewing positions. At the moment the parade is starting around 7 or 7.30 pm. Make sure to check the information at the castle end of Main Street to make sure you don’t miss it.

Helpful Tip: If you want to sit down to watch the parade on one of the curbs, aim to find a spot at least 1/2 an hour before the scheduled start of the parade. This is a particularly good idea if you have kids with you.

The parade was just as good the second time around as it was when we saw the preview a few weeks back. Bethany and I were bopping along to the music as the floats glided down Main Street delighting everyone.

I won’t bore you with commentary … but I will torture you with yet more (hopefully better) photos from the parade.

What do you think of the new parade? Have you seen it? Do you love it? Hate it? Let me know!

  1. Hi, saw this when I was in Hong Kong last week. Pretty good I would say. I like the Little Mermaid, Toy Story and Monsters Inc. units the best. I saw the day parade too and that was not bad either but maybe add more characters, like Alice and Ariel in front of the “Romance Takes Wing” unit? I like the first float with Mickey and friends.

    • I’m glad you liked the parade and enjoyed your time in Hong Kong Disney. Unfortunately the daytime parade “Flights of Fantasy” has been the same for over 4 years!! Yes – 4 years of the SAME daytime parade! It desperately needs to be changed or replaced as it is quite dated but I haven’t seen anything indicating when they will finally get around to it. Here’s hoping it will get the magical treatment sometime this year.

      • Yeah, I have seen the parade in 2012, and yes changes must be made and I guess the most noticeable would be the princesses getting their new dresses.

That said, I liked Aurora’s Flights of Fantasy Parade dress but now she’s wearing her regular (new) pink dress. Snow White’s new dress is so much better than before though, in my opinion.

Now, to share a little more (hope you don’t mind)

The characters at HK Disneyland are also quite little in number though. I met Donald, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Pluto, Snow White, Cinderella, Anna and Elsa, plus some Mystic Point performers. I chose not to meet Duffy and Shelliemay who were on Main Street and I totally regret.

The Golden Mickeys was good, and I noticed some changes. It’s awesome cos the parts changed are those I didn’t quite like! For example, Belle no longer sings “Something There” behind the screen. That seemed pretty odd to me.

Mystic Manor was also an interesting experience, definitely different from what I’ve seen at the Haunted Mansion rides.
